STEATITE

Soapstone (also referred to as talcum or soaprock) may be a talc-schist, that may be a kind of rock.  It is composed largely of the magnesium rich mineral talc.Soapstone, also known as steatite, can be found all over the world.  Much of the talcum seen lately comes from Brazil, China or Republic of India.Significant deposits additionally exist in Australia and Canada, furthermore as in European countries, Austria, France, Italy, Svizzera, Deutschland and therefore the U. S.

Steatite is employed primarily for its material and thermal insulating properties in applications like tile, substrates, washers, bushings, beads, and pigments. It is also used for high-voltage insulators, which have to stand large mechanical loads, e.g. insulators of mast radiators.
